The Melbourne season follows successful development showings at Theatre Oostblok in Amsterdam last year and is accompanied by a public events program informed by Naomi Klein's social impact program accompanying the book and documentary, This Changes Everything (2014). Written between the Netherlands and Australia, World Problems is a somewhat funny, slightly bizarre depiction of our monolithic, interconnected world. "I wanted to write a science fiction about the future and ended up writing a true story about the past. The piece is inspired by German historian and philosopher Oswald Spengler, ecofeminist cyborg aficionado Donna Haraway and the multi-million-billion-trillion lifeforms living and dying together in our biosphere," said Emma Mary Hall. Each night, we build a world. Each night, we start again from scratch. One woman lists real and imagined memories of life on Planet Earth. What results is a gradual accumulation of the momentous, tragic and joyful events shaping global consciousness and the tentacular human connections that make a world. World Problems features interactive post-show workshops and discussions on 14, 16, 17, 23 and 24 March. These are facilitated, practical conversations on themes including climate and human change, futurist gardening, future-proofing our houses and ‘frugal hedonism’. Opening night features Emma Mary Hall in discussion with Alex Kelly - filmmaker and former Global Impact & Distribution Producer for Naomi Klein’s This Changes Everything documentary. An award-winning international team has collaborated on World Problems including Tasmanian-based composer SS.Sebastian (Electric Moon's Music of Twin Peaks national tour), lighting designer Rachel Lee (Fallen, Romeo Is Not The Only Fruit), Fleur Dean on set design (founding member ofBig hART) and the award-winning theatre director Prue Clark as Dramaturg (Contest, MTC's 2018 Cybec readings). Melbourne-based artists Mark Wilson and Susie Dee and Amsterdam-based artists Sarah Nixon and Jasna Veličković also collaborated on the Oostblok season. World Problems is Hall’s third piece, succeeding her two previous Melbourne Fringe hits We May Have to Choose (2015) and Ode to Man (2017), both of which were directed by Prue Clark. Emma received the Best Emerging Writer Melbourne Fringe 2017 Award for Ode to Man and Best Theatre Auckland Fringe 2017 Award for We May Have to Choose. World Problems was developed with the support of Cultureland Residency and Theatre Oostblok in the Netherlands, and City of Melbourne in Australia. In the package I got the Daily Cleansing Mask (which was enough for 4 applications) and two capsules of Night Renewing Serum and Lip Renewing Serum. I use the first capsule for the eyes and the second for the lips. Both capsules contained the drop of finest serum - more than enough for one generous application The result The daily cleansing mask. The feeling just applying the facial mask is absolutely superb: the skin felt relaxed, rejuvenated and created a general sensation of the face being touched by the gentle flowers from the alpine meadows. The mask was not heavy, very gentle. The time to wear it for the result: 2 minutes so you can do it while yo drink your morning coffee. It is amazing! My skin loved it very much! Capsule blue 1 night serum. The skin under my eyes is tender soft and it feels marvelous: very smooth and soft Capsule silver 2 lips serum. The skin on my lips is revived and very fresh. The uplifting effect is wonderful. I loved the product by Rodan + Fields. It is hard to name the favorite out of three as I loved all of them in their own way. Highly recommended quality skin care! No better place to celebrate your love for coffee than at Coffee Expo at #MCEC There is a vast variety of local and international coffee blends to tickle your coffee taste buds as well as the range of coffee machines, coffee beans, coffee related equipment, technology and drinks to experience. There lots of stalls offering great coffee experiences - a select few is described below: 1. @5Senses - cold coffee with maple blend gives a smoky flavour to your taste buds - the stall was very crowded and the company staff provided a great customer service in providing tastings for their innovative product portfolio 2. @GBNRosteries from Indonesia who got a great coverage and interest from local roasteries for their beans. They mentioned that they love the welcoming warmth they got from Australian businesses and people and loved the venue at MCEC. They specialise in dark roast and will come back next year with lots of potential for business opportunities. I visited exhibition with my friends and their families and we all had so much fun and free samples to take home. Bohemian Rhapsody Weekly Magazine expresses its special thanks to the managers and organisers of the show and personally to #SarahBaker and Lauren Winterbottom from Prime Creative and BeanScene Magazine for the generous giveaway and the opportunity to cover the show as well as to Michelle for her stunning coverage Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE2019) took place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) Roslynne Garwood-Webb writes: Saturday 9th February 2019 and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is buzzing with a cool enthusiastic coffee vibe as traders and exhibitors head into their third and final day of convention. Whether you are a coffee aficionado, enthusiast, industry member or a first time coffee adventurer, the MICE ( Melbourne International Coffee Festival) has something for everyone. MICE launched in 2012 and this year was the first year that they called Melbourne Exhibition Convention and Exhibition Centre Home. And what an amazing space it was, to exhibit all things coffee. I would not be writing an honest review if I didn’t mention first and foremost the Nexus One Espresso Machine. If you are in the same room as this amazing beautiful piece of artwork/coffee machine, its impossible to miss. Designed in the Netherlands and engineered in Australia by Aremde, the ‘less machine’ ‘more experience’ principle is indeed what makes this piece of equipment a stand out amongst all other coffee machines I have seen. Next stop for me was the ibubambu stand which was showcasing a beautiful array of environmentally friendly and sustainable non disposable coffee cups. . In a world where we should all try to be more environmentally conscious and look for sustainable options , Ibibambu cup is a new generation of reusable takeaway cup created by the worlds fastest growing most sustainable crop, bamboo fibre. Jon Egan, who is a national distributor for Ibibambu proudly showed me around his stand where I discovered a beautiful array gorgeously decorated and patterned Eco friendly coffee cups with that point of difference. After a wander around and sampling of some amazing piccolos form the likes of St Ali coffee roasters, Lavazza, Califia, and Maltra Foods ( who whipped me up a white chocolate and sesame frappauino from their exciting new range of powdered flavours which was absolutely divine !! ), I stumbled across Paul at the Veneziano Coffee Roasters stand, where he was mixing up some very impressive coffee frappacuinno mock-tails. Utilising their famous Bond Street Espresso, along with some Billsons Blood Orange and Cardamon Cordial, Moda Sparkling and Orange Mist, this drink was an absolute stand out for me and I will defiantly be visiting Veneziano in Richmond to further explore their innovative coffee menu which has a distinctive and exciting point of difference for all coffee lovers. As the largest dedicated coffee show in the Southern Hemisphere the Melbourne International Coffee Exhibition, for me, will now become a must do every year ! What a fabulous way to explore all that coffee has to offer. photos: Roslynne Garwood-Webb Bohemian Rhapsody Weekly Magazine expresses its special thanks to the managers and organisers of the show and personally to #SarahBaker and Lauren Winterbottom from Prime Creative Media and BeanScene Magazinefor the generous giveaway and the opportunity to cover the show as well as to Roslynne for her very comprehensive coverage Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE2019) took place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) from 7-9 February Max Lyons writes and reviews one of the exhibitors: Brand: Minor Figures Product: 'Nitro' Cold Brew Coffee & Oat Milk Question: What makes your product special? Response: "Our coffee is made using seasonally-sourced coffee beans and extracted using our unique cold brewing method. This enriches the flavour of the beans to produce an immensely flavourful drink that's more gentle on the tongue compared to traditional methods, with a more natural sweetness and a less bitter taste. Our drinks are then infused with silky nitrogen bubbles and canned, a method known as "Nitro" brewing. This gives each coffee a foamy cascading texture and a real latte head in every can. Our coffee comes in 3 variations: black (straight coffee), latte (with milk), and mocha (with milk and cocoa). The latter two are made with our specialised oat milk, meaning all our products are 100% plant-based and therefore dairy free, naturally lactose-free, and free from animal protein. Moreover, they all contain absolutely no added sugar. And it tastes great! It's hard to do better than that." --- Reflection: I picked Minor Figures exhibitor for several reasons. For one, their products all taste great all while being made from more natural and healthy ingredients (a feat more than impressive in its own right). Not only that but as a brand and manufacturer they are extremely environmentally conscious, ensuring they source their ingredients in the most environmentally conservative manner as well as striving to produce a minimal carbon footprint. And a personal preference, but I quite like the art and illustrations associated with their brand and products. It's not only quite quirky and unique, but serves as a double meaning relating to the "misleading" nature of their product; not in a bad way, however - the product's taste would make it seem alike most other products on the market, but is "misleading" in the sense that it's actually an extremely enjoyable healthy alternative to such aforementioned products (which often contain plentiful sugars and additives to achieve their great taste). photo: #SamBell Bohemian Rhapsody Weekly Magazine expresses its special thanks to the managers and organisers of the show and personally to #SarahBaker and Lauren Winterbottom from Prime Creative Media and BeanScene Magazinefor the generous giveaway and the opportunity to cover the show as well as to Mac and Sam for their original pick and immaculate writing - thank you guys!
