Roy Theaker and Kalina Krusteva will thrill you with the Brahms Double Concerto which was Brahms' last composition for orchestra. It was written for cellist Robert Hausmann, a frequent chamber music collaborator of Brahms, and Brahms' estranged friend, the violinist Joseph Joachim. One of the greatest violinists of all time - it was a gesture of reconciliation by Brahms towards Joachim. When planning their 2020 season, the Zelman Symphony intended to pay homage to the 250th anniversary of the birth of Beethoven. They could not do that last year, but Beethoven was born in December 1770, so this is still the 250th year since his birth. What better way of celebrating Beethoven than playing one of his famous symphonies. For this concert it is the 8th.
The concert will start with the Beethoven’s wonderful Egmont Overture.
