The Melbourne Musicians Orchestra, directed by Frank Pam , continue their 40th Anniversary Season with an exciting program consisting of premieres and rare performances of attractive works from the 18th century to the present day.
Internationally acclaimed musicians, Czech born violinist Ivana Tomaskova and Ukrainian born pianist Tamara Smolyar, known to Melbourne audiences as the popular and highly esteemed Duo Chamber Melange, are the featured soloists in a very rarely heard performance of Mozart 's Concerto for Violin and Piano in D major, K.315f and the Australian premiere of Concertino for Violin, Piano and String Orchestra by Russian Alla Pavlova, now living in New York, where the work was composed in 2012.
The program includes one of the first performances of A Song for Gallipoli by Melbourne composer George Dreyfus, composed in April 2015 for Anzac Day, and four more Australian premieres: Symphony No.32 in D by Mozart's friendMichael Haydn (Joseph Haydn's younger brother); Carl Nielsen's Bohemian-Danish Folksong and Josef Suk's Ella-Polka and Village Serenade.
