· Lunch today at Railway Hotel South Melbourne
The place was very busy. We had no idea it was Father’s Day - not because we are illiterate, ignorant and not because we do not watch Tv and listen to the radio (although I think all of the above and much more) but simply because our culture does not celebrate the day. I hate those celebrations also: I believe it is not the date to take your father out once a year , give him one more lame present or just remember him... Your father has to be remembered daily and given presents often just because there is no one else like him and never will be... Anyway, this culture kills me the same way the 8th of March gets celebrated in Russia (the only day the women are not allowed to wash the dishes... as if...) anyway enough of my talking.. back to the Railway business... the place was so busy there was not even one table anywhere.. .however we were seated and offered drinks (the manager of course did not know how boring we were) , The seats and the best table (in the sunny spot of the house) were found for us following my question... but wait... less we expected the food in such a humble place was to die for: cooked with love (and we know what we talk about) , great value for your money and so fresh and tasty - the way I like it , just like at home... no wonder the place was full....
