For many years, Australia had its own German Film Festival, but this era ended in 2017.
Goethe-Institut Australia officially announced at the Round Table of the German community in Melbourne that there will be no continuation of the popular Festival of German Films in 2017.
According to a spokeswoman, there will be no re-release of the festival, which was held in several Australian cities and was not only popular with German film fans. Just a few years ago, the main sponsor Audi Deutschlandhad jumped off and in 2016 the appointment had already been postponed by half a year to November. 2016 was the last year Australia had its own German Film Festival.
[There were ...] high hopes for an alternative for all cinemagoers, because an alternative German film festival, at least in Melbourne, is to be held from 17 to 25 November 2017. There is a smaller framework, but with eleven current films from Germany. Behind the brave project are members of the German community who are supported by the well-known film critic Peter Krausz.
But there are also some good news!
Peter Krausz ( Movie Metropolis WYN 88.9FM) the artistic director of German Film Festival organises and announces the alternative screenings of German Cinema Melbourne this year for all German cinematography lovers in Australia:
DATES: November 17-25
LOCATION: The Backlot Studios Melbourne
WEB: www.germancinemamelbourne.com
Please note that the films that are scheduled for the screening are all Australian premieres, including the Closing film, the restored Lang silent from 1921 Destiny.
Thanks to the Festival management team Bohemian Rhapsody Club and Online Magazine is welcome to review any festival film ( conditions apply and will be advised to our media crew members shortly via collective message) . We also will be reviewing the media launch film on November 2. Please stay tuned for more details coming up soon...
