Josh Piterman who is currently playing the male lead role as Gerry Goffin in the smash hit production “Beautiful - The Carole King Musical” releases his debut self-titled solo album JOSH PITERMAN on April 6th. Josh is an award winning performing artist in musical theatre and is poised to take his singing
career to a new level with his Pop-Opera album featuring pop favourites performed in an outstanding classical crossover style.
The self-titled album was produced by John Foreman and the orchestral tracks were recorded in Europe with The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and features classic pop and rocks songs like Burn For You (John Farnham), Unchained Melody (Righteous Brothers), Wicked Game (Chris Isaak), Creep (Radio Head), Iris (Goo Goo Dolls) All Of Me (John Legend), Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen) and more.
Robert Rigby, head of Fanfare Records (Sony Music Distribution) said, “Josh has delivered a spectacular album of popular songs with clever orchestral arrangements. A refreshing concept that will take people by surprise. He has brought a touch of romance to these songs. A big new brilliant voice has
arrived on the music scene.”
The concept of this album is something that he has nurtured over a six year period with songs Josh loved as a child of the 80’s growing up immersed in 90’s pop/rock culture.
Piterman says “It was simple, I just wanted to choose songs that I love, that take me back to a specific time and place in my life, memories that are accessible that are nostalgic for me and hopefully for a lot of people listening. Some are happy memories, some aren’t, but they are all real”. Having sung
as a classical singer for so long, spending the best part of 15 years singing in Italian and Spanish languages that are so romantic and so lush to sing in, re-orchestrating these pop and rock songs with a classical twist couldn’t be more truthful to the person I am.”
Many accolades are coming in from artists and media ....Alan Jones - “Brilliant. Beautiful. World Class!”, Geoffrey Rush - “It’s the most amazing voice!”
Sydney Morning Herald - “Soaring! Superb”, The Age- “Show stopper!”
Josh kicked off his career performing with the International vocal group, The Ten Tenors and then made his mark as Tony in the 2010 tour of West Side
Story. An early career highlight was when he understudied/played George in The Drowsy Chaperone for Melbourne Theatre Company alongside Geoffrey
Rush.
Piterman’s musical theatre credits include playing Bustopher Jones/Gus/Growltiger in the 2016 season of Cats, a role that won him the Green Room Award for Best Supporting Actor in A Musical; Edward in Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers; Corny Collins in the UK tour of Hairspray; Ramon Gutierrez in An Officer And A Gentleman; Michael in Grease 2; The Caliph in Kismet for The Production Company. Josh played both “Giuseppe” in The Light in the Piazza at The Arts Centre and Jamie” in The Last Five Years for The Victorian Theatre Company in late 2016.
