Melbourne Chamber Choir has been a distinguished contributor to the Melbourne choral scene for more than thirty years. Our small, four-part choir (SATB) prides itself on performing chamber works from Medieval to contemporary times, as well as showcasing new Australian works. We are also happy to tackle oratorio and even some opera.
Handel’s Solomon is a grand, magnificent oratorio depicting the building of the Temple and the dispute between the two mothers. Its most famous piece is the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, but the arias and choruses are just as spirited. The role of Solomon will be
performed by Cantor Michel Laloum, who impressed audiences in 2017 with his solo role in Peace – a Cantata for John Monash. Solomon will be sung in English, feature a chamber orchestra and will be conducted by Dr David Kram.
