Tea lovers will soon be able to spend the day exploring and tasting a range of specialty loose leaf teas under one roof at the inaugural Melbourne Tea Festival on Sunday, 29 May 2016.
Held in the heart of the city at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), South Wharf, Victoria, the event will feature Australia’s most exciting and creative specialty tea purveyors from Melbourne and beyond.
Visitors can wander the tea market and taste some of the best artisanal teas around with their porcelain tasting cup in hand, buy teaware, accessories and hand-crafted homewares, or join a tea workshop. Food trucks and boutique food stalls will offer sweet and savoury treats, with some making tea inspired creations for the day.
Festival-goers can expect an interactive tea performance from#YukaMikayama, a performer from the Osaka and Melbourne underground scene. Her modern Japanese tea ceremony performances are described as 'a liberated taste of tea infused with the Melbourne underground’.
The Melbourne Tea Festival also features a series of six curated tea workshops. This year’s line-up has been announced, with tea-enthusiasts able to buy tickets via the festival website: http://www.melbourneteafestival.com.au/
