One of my favourite Australian Hip Hop duo's has teamed up with the 90’s band Chocolate Starfish to record their collaboration “Mountain 2.0”
Karnage N Darknis (Tristan Watkins and Corinna Hall) are a dynamic hip hop duo, known for songs about social issues, aboriginal land rights and every day struggles.
Chocolate Starfish are also an Australian band very popular in the 90’s. Their song “Mountain” achieved gold record status in 1994 and stayed in the top 20 Australian charts for 16 weeks. Now the song takes on a whole new sound. Hip Hop meets rock, and its absolutely fantastic.
I loved the song in the 90’s, and now ,with both of these brilliant artists together, I'm in love with it all over again; even more so. I have no doubt that this song will hit Australian radios and become a huge hit. Karnage N Darknis’ raw lyrics are sensational and has completely added a new dimension to “Mountain”.
The video for the clip was shot in Alice Springs and the entirety has a deep Australian feel which is quite simply outstanding. I have a feeling this might just be the start of some great collaborations, not only with with Chocolate Starfish, but other outstanding Australian artists as well.
Finally, Karnage N Darkness, I feel, will become a household name in this great country, and just maybe internationally as well.
Have a listen to this song and see for yourselves. Personally, I think its a winner across music genres to suit many listeners.
