#SibeliusAndElgar
DATE: Saturday 16 March 2019, 8.00pm
LOCATION: Eldon Hogan Performing Arts Centre, Xavier College, Barkers Road, Kew

In this concert, we feature two works from the turn of the 20th century. Sibelius’s only concerto will be performed by violinist Ji Won Kim who received the ABC Young Performers Award in 2009, playing this very concerto. Ji Won has performed extensively in Australia, Asia and Europe and we welcome her back after fabulous concerts with us in 2013 and 2014.
Enigma Variations established Elgar’s international reputation. It is a unique work where each variation reflects the character of a close acquaintance, ending in a grand variation representing Elgar himself. Mystery still surrounds the musical theme that inspired the variations - can you work it out?
