book review by Alice Slamani (thank you Alice - very grateful!)
The Paradise Stain is an epic Australian Novel with an in-depth plot. A page turner which takes readers on a voyage through personal tragedies and triumphs. Although it was initially a little difficult to get into, I found myself engrossed suddenly and couldn't put it down. With some unexpected plot twists towards the end, readers will be left entertained and almost feel confronted with personal insights of their own. I thoroughly enjoyed the character development through the novel, with the character Kant being the star. The back stories and side stories of the novel keep the themes interesting. Contestants on a reality tv show share their life dramas and circumstances, with Kant struggles through his own life. It begs the question of how much voyeurism is too much, and when does too much voyeurism become a sickness and/or a sin that can take over people's lives. It really had me thinking about my own involvement in the lives of others and is life really a 'game show' of success and struggle.
