Beethoven - Symphony No.3 Eroica
Don’t miss the heroics from the orchestra in the Eroica Symphony and from trumpeter, Geoffrey Payne playing Haydn's trumpet concert. Haydn's trumpet concerto was a real first in its time. He wrote it for his trumpeter friend, Anton Weidinger, who had just invented the keyed trumpet so that he could play chromatically right across the entire range of the trumpet, which Haydn fully exploited in this ever-popular work.
What can one say about the Mozart’s Wind Serenade K.375, except that it is truly a masterpiece, as is Beethoven's Eroica Symphony.
Mark Shiell will present a pre-concert talk in the auditorium commencing 30 minutes prior to each performance as usual.
