and
TERMINUS JESS JOHNSON and SIMON WARD
DATES: 2 November 2019 1 March 2020
LOCATION: 7 Templestowe Rd, Bulleen VIC 3105
WEBSITE: https://www.heide.com.au/…/terminus-jess-johnson-and-simon-…
EN ROUTE WONA BAE AND CHARLIE LAWLER
Wona Bae and Charlie Lawler are known for their experiential installations that navigate instinctive and symbiotic connections between people and nature. For En Route the artists have created site-specific immersive artworks that respond spatially and temporally to the modernist building, Heide II. Using botanical material and a language of texture and reduction, they deconstruct familiar forms and compose new landscapes to be considered and explored. Bae and Lawler present the natural world as active and central in an era of polarisation, inequality, inaction and apathy. The exhibition combines installation, sculpture, two-dimensional artworks, and photographs documenting ephemeral interventions made by the artists over several months in the surrounds of Heide and beyond.
TERMINUS JESS JOHNSON and SIMON WARD
With their pioneering use of virtual reality, artists Jess Johnson and Simon Ward have created an immersive installation in which Johnson's drawings have been transformed from analogue to digital. A mysterious universe of alien architecture, humanoid clones and cryptic symbols will open up to the viewer via a cyber network of travellators and gateways.Terminus presents a quest, a choose-your-own adventure into the technological. Prepare yourself for a slippage of time and space as your journey propels you through spectacular cyber narratives: you will pass through Fleshold Crossing; take respite in Known Unknown; lose yourself within Scumm Engine; bravely face impending danger in the tower of Gog & Magog; and experience the brink of sensory overload in the psychedelic scenes of Tumblewych. A number of drawings and textile works by Jess Johnson especially selected for Heide will also be displayed. Please note: This exhibition is very popular. If you are planning to visit on the weekend we advise coming early in the day (10am–12pm) to avoid queues. Alternatively, plan your visit for a week day when the galleries are quieter. Allow one hour to experience all of the five VR stations.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM
Heide Museum of Modern Art began life in 1934 as the home of Melbourne couple John and Sunday Reed and has since evolved into one of Australia's most important cultural institutions. Soon after purchasing the fifteen acre property on which Heide stands in 1934, founders John and Sunday Reed opened their home to like-minded individuals such as artists Sidney Nolan, Albert Tucker, Joy Hester, John Perceval and Danila Vassilieff. They nurtured a circle of artists, writers and intellectuals who contributed to Heide becoming a place for the discussion, creation and promotion of modern art and literature. John and Sunday made a lasting contribution to Australian culture through their support of creative endeavours in the visual arts, literature and architecture. In the mid-1950s the Reeds established the Gallery of Contemporary Art and in 1958, with the assistance of friend and entrepreneur Georges Mora, they re-launched the gallery as the Museum of Modern Art of Australia. This eventually led to the formal establishment of the museum. Amassing an outstanding collection of the contemporary art of their time, the Reeds outgrew their original farmhouse, now known as Heide I, and in 1964 commissioned the construction of a ‘gallery to be lived in’ from David McGlashan. This modernist architectural icon eventually opened as a public art museum in November 1981 following its purchase by the State Government on behalf of the people of Victoria. Although the Reeds lived to see their vision fulfilled of Heide as a public museum, they both died shortly afterwards in December 1981, ten days apart. They are remembered as champions of modern art and literature and remain two of Australia's most important art benefactors.

is at Brunetti.
The array of colourful and dressed for occasion nutcrackers march across the corners of Brunetti on Lygon : some are modelling for my camera , some are indifferent guarding their sweet kings and cake queens and some are telling me their Christmas stories from very busy last year ... it’s just one glamorous exhibition of the festive season - such a pleasure for the eyes ... I just leave my coffee at the table and swing alone the alley of cakes on my left !!! And right !!! And behind me !! And ahead of me !!! I have to be careful not to step on them !! People tell me what to do !! ?

Box Hill Institute, Box Hill Institute - Fashion and Deakin Edge, Federation Square cordially invite you to experience
Kaleidoscope: Fashion Parade
DATE:: 28 November Thursday at 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
VENUE: Deakin Edge, Fed Square Swanston St & Flinders Ln
Melbourne, VIC 3000
WEBSITE: https://www.facebook.com/events/949731355396101/
TICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/kaleidoscope-fashion-parade…

Each year Box Hill Institute fashion students put on a fashion parade, supported by students in hair and beauty, design, visual merchandising, music and floristry. This year the fashion parade is called Kaleidoscope: a fusion of colour and design and it will be held on Thursday 28 November at Deakin Edge, Federation Square. Kaleidoscope will be a swirl of bold colours and design showing off the creativity of our Bachelor of Fashion students who will each showcase their inspiring collections.
This year’s conceptual direction, Kaleidoscope, encourages students to explore and consider different perspectives through colour and analyse how we choose to see things, i.e. with every changing colour of the kaleidoscope, the slightest shift can change the picture entirely although the basic components may remain the same. Industry judges will select the winning collection for Best on the Runway from the students’ final year designs. A supportive audience of students, family, friends, schools, teachers and industry will be attendance at the event.
Doors open at 6:30 PM for drinks, canapés and live music, before the runway commences at 7:30 PM.
All thanks to the event management team our media is proudly covering the event (media: Erkin Kalayci) please stay tuned for more details.

Summer Season 2019
DATES: Friday 6 Dec, 7.30pm, Saturday 7 Dec, 1.30pm and 7.30pm
VENUE: Arts Centre Melbourne, Playhouse, 100 St Kilda Road, Melbourne
TICKETS: Phone 1300 182 183 or online at Arts Centre Melbourne https://www.artscentremelbourne.com.au/…/australian-ballet-…
WEBSITE: https://www.australianballetschool.com.au/pag…/summer-season
The Australian Ballet School presents SUMMER SEASON 2019
Aurora's Wedding from Sleeping Beauty & Other Works
The Australian Ballet School presents its much loved end of year performance, with over 100 students taking to the stage of Arts Centre Melbourne in an enchanting display of talent.
The artists-in-training will perform a program of classical and contemporary works under the direction of resident choreographers, Simon Dow and Margaret Wilson and 2010 ABS alumnus Richard House.
Opening the evening is the magical Aurora’s Wedding from The Sleeping Beauty featuring an ensemble of fairy tale characters for the wedding of Princess Aurora and Prince Florimund, performed by Level 7 and 8 students. Former Australian Ballet School student Richard House presents Sketch Tone, his first work created for the School. Featuring Level 5 students, Sketch Tone presents itself almost like a classical ballet version of a flock of birds, showing the swirls and openness but in a beautifully managed entanglement.
Choreographer Margaret Wilson also finds inspiration from birds in Journey, which portrays the migration of birds from one region to another, extending to the movement of people from one country to another and the commonality between the two, in the gruelling journey in search of survival. In Con Brio, Level 4 students display detailed technique when dancing to the bright and vibrant music of Haydn’s wonderful symphonies No 6 in D Major (Le Matin) and the 4th movement: Finale – Allegro, choreographed by Simon Dow.
Who Cares? Who Cares, a Balanchine® Ballet, is presented by arrangement with The George Balanchine Trust - staged by international repetiteur, Victoria Simon with choreography by George Balanchine © The George Balanchine Trust. With a selection of George Gershwin’s musical numbers, Who Cares? Who Cares evokes the exuberance of life in New York, with a sound and style that is both thrilling and distinctly American, performed by students from Level 7 and Level 8. This season will be the last with the School for the Level 8 students who graduate in December; 80% of whom have already been offered contracts with leading ballet companies for 2020.
The Australian Ballet School Director, Lisa Pavane, says “I am delighted to present the incredible talent of our hard-working students. Audiences will be enchanted by our artists-in-training – the future generations of ballet in Australia.”
Summer Season 2019 Programme:
Sleeping Beauty Act III, 'Aurora's Wedding'
Sketch Tone, choreography by Richard House
Con Brio, choreography by Simon Dow
Journey, choreography by Margaret Wilson
Who Cares?, choreography by George Balanchine © The George Balanchine Trust, staged by Victoria Simon
