ATTENTION TO ALL CREATIVE MINDS:
photographers, designers, writers, models, artists, stylists, MUAHs, artistic directors and others alike:
there is the challenge described:
WYTAI
n. a feature of modern society that suddenly strikes you as absurd and grotesque—from zoos and milk-drinking to organ transplants, life insurance, and fiction—part of the faint background noise of absurdity that reverberates from the moment our ancestors first crawled out of the slime but could not for the life of them remember what they got up to do.
The word comes from... The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows
ANNOUNCING COMPETITION
on the best concept / style photograph or set of photographs that will fit into the category "WYTAI" with the focus on 'modern fairies and their stories'.
We publish only one best project in our next upcoming artbook
The due date for submission is 15 February 2023 1200pm
The works of art should be sent in the form of a direct dropbox link or direct wetransfer link with the full list of credits and your story of inspiration to accompany it in PM.
Your original photos should be a highly acclaimed art in fashion - each image should be like a part of a collective story.
good luck!

feeling very happy that after more than four months we can finally release the projects waiting in line for so long to be published ( MARQUIS ART BOOK iss 44):
SINGING SWANS
Project by Nav
Reflection
sitting with my reflection, reminiscing about the days of the past
i sometimes wonder, what I miss the most
the connections, the places, the tastes, the smells that last
or is the no sense of time, when I was immersed
lost in pursuit of something, a thing that’d be so fulfilling
when it finally arrived, the triumph, the elation
that didn’t last long, not as an unceasing feeling
now I miss what I had, when on the spoor
but I look for, and find the next great big thing
knowing that too won’t mollify, but it stops me craving.

A Nameless Grace

feeling very happy that we can finally release the projects that were waiting in line for so long to be published (MARQUIS ART BOOK iss 44):
Complex and Intense Beauty is Almost Beyond Language: A Nameless Grace
The Grace of Yao Mountain
Model - Grace Liu
Photographer - Gerardo Chierchia
Concept and poems - David Black
Location - Heavenly Queen Temple Footscray
Pic 1
I came from the mysterious mountain of Yao,
To the shores of Australia where I live now,
My name is Grace Liu, I have a story to tell,
Of how Melbourne became the place I now dwell.
Pic 2
I'll sing you a song of China Old,
Of Liannan Yao of scenic Guangdong,
And King Pan Temple so beautiful and strong,
The mysteries of Tao and my mother tongue.
Pic 3
Atop of the world sits my home of Yao Mountain,
We call it Yaoshan, but some call it heaven,
They tell me my birth was particularly auspicious
I was in the Quan Yin position, just like the goddess.
Pic 4
I pray to Quan Yin,
Goddess of compassion,
For she is my guide,
When there's spiritual famine
Pic 5
A pillar of strength entwined by a white dragon,
I am resilient and strong and full of passion,
I stand at the door of the heavenly temple,
I leave the material world outside as I enter the bastion.
Pic 6
You see my smile for I offer it freely,
But you don't know me yet for I am a mystery,
My clothing is Yao for these are my people,
But I stand in Australia for that's now my country.
Pic 7
I travel this path, a spiritual quest
From the East to the South and the culture of the West,
From Millenium Yao Village, I left my old place,
To live in fair Melbourne for this is my fate.
Pic 8
I was forged in the fires of the ancient Orient,
But like a phoenix reborn, I am now an Australian!

NGV International invite you to experience
Alexander McQueen MIND MYTHOS MUSE
DATES: Opens 11 Dec
LOCATION: National Gallery of Victoria, Ground Level 180 St Kilda Road
WEBSITE: https://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/exhibition/alexander-mcqueen/
Alexander McQueen (1969–2010) remains one of the most extraordinary and significant fashion designers in recent memory, lauded for his conceptual and technical virtuosity. McQueen’s critically acclaimed collections synthesised his proficiency in tailoring and dressmaking with encyclopaedic and autobiographical visual references that spanned time, geography and media. Organised by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, (LACMA), in partnership with the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, this is the first major Australian exhibition to explore McQueen’s thought-provoking and singular viewpoint. Showcasing over 120 garments and accessories alongside more than 80 artworks, including painting, sculpture, photography, works on paper and decorative arts, from a multitude of eras and cultures, Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse offers unprecedented insight into McQueen’s far-reaching sources of inspiration, his creative process and his capacity for story-telling.
Acclaimed collections such as the controversial Highland Rape, autumn-winter 1995-96 and its poignant sequel The Widows of Culloden, autumn-winter 2006-07 highlight the autobiographical nature of McQueen’s work, while dramatic presentations of Deliverance, spring-summer 2004, The Horn of Plenty, autumn-winter 2009-10 and his last, Plato’s Atlantis, spring-summer 2010 traverse existential themes. Organised into four thematic sections, the exhibition considers McQueen’s personal and philosophical design vocabulary. Mythos investigates McQueen’s use of belief systems, religious doctrines and mythologies as a framework for contemplating human nature and contemporary society; Fashioned Narratives explores the designers penchant for telling stories of imagined worlds via his collections and runway shows; Technique and Innovation highlights McQueen’s masterful technical abilities; while Evolution and Existence examines his fascination with nature and life cycles, especially his view of death – not as an end, but as an opportunity for change.
Alexander McQueen will be launched on Saturday 10 December 2022 with the popular event, the NGV Gala. A celebration of art, fashion, fine food and wine, the NGV Gala was inaugurated in 2017 and has since become an anticipated event on Melbourne’s events calendar.
All thanks to our friends at NGV MEDIA AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS, Bohemian Rhapsody Weekly Magazine is covering the exhibition exclusive media preview on 9 December (media: TBA) please stay tuned for more information

National Gallery of Victoria invite you to experience
The Picasso Century | Melbourne Winter Masterpieces 2022
DATES: 10 June - 09 October 2022
LOCATION: National Gallery of Victoria, NGV International, Ground Level
WEBSITE: https://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/exhibition/the-picasso-century/
TICKETS: https://connect.ngv.vic.gov.au/49132
he world-premiere Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® exhibition, The Picasso Century, charts the extraordinary career of Pablo Picasso in dialogue with the many artists, poets and intellectuals with whom he intercepted and interacted throughout the 20th century, including Georges Braque, Salvador Dalí, Alberto Giacometti, Françoise Gilot, Valentine Hugo, Marie Laurencin, Dora Maar, André Masson, Henri Matisse, Guillaume Apollinaire, Dorothea Tanning and Gertrude Stein. Exclusively developed for the NGV by the Centre Pompidou and the Musée national Picasso-Paris, the exhibition features over 80 works by Picasso alongside over 100 works by more than 50 of his contemporaries, drawn from premier French national collections, as well as the NGV Collection. Audiences will also have the opportunity to discover a rich selection of works by artists rarely exhibited in Australia, including Natalia Goncharova, Julio González, Wifredo Lam, Suzanne Valadon and Maria Helena Vieira da Silva.
Curated by noted scholar of 20th century painting Didier Ottinger, Deputy Director of the Musée national d’art moderne, Centre Pompidou, Paris, The Picasso Century examines the diverse influences, encounters and collaborative relationships that steered Picasso through many distinct artistic periods, such as his Blue Period, Cubism and Surrealism, and draws lines between Picasso’s famous creations and the world around him. By exploring Picasso’s career through his personal, artistic and intellectual engagement with his peers, the exhibition provides a unique insight into the artistic legacy of one of the 20th century’s most influential and celebrated artists, as well as the community of artists from which he emerged.
Twelve thematic sections organise The Picasso Century, which trace the many distinct periods that shaped the artist’s career over more than seven decades, while also situating his work within a broader artistic and geographical context. Each exhibition section provides a nuanced perspective on a rich century of artistic experiment, in which Picasso stands prominently among many innovators. The beginning of the exhibition explores Picasso’s formative years, which encapsulate significant artistic developments, most notably Cubism, the development of which Picasso led with Georges Braque. Considered by many the ‘experiment’ that most radically transformed 20th century art, Cubism saw Western art move away from representing likeness and, among many innovations, introduced multiple and simultaneous perspectives into a composition, resulting in the style’s recognisable fragmented imagery.
The Picasso Century also examines Picasso’s place within the multicultural crucible that was inter-war Paris, and his interaction with other artists and writers including André Breton, Jean Cocteau and Alberto Giacometti. The exhibition will be particularly rich with works from Picasso’s Surrealist period, presented alongside works by many other artists associated with the movement, including Kay Sage, Max Ernst, Salvador Dalí, Giorgio de Chirico and André Masson. The final sections of the exhibition explore Picasso’s work in an increasingly international art world post–1945 and examines the contested artistic output towards the end of his career. His work of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s are positioned alongside later generations of painters, including Francis Bacon and Willem de Kooning.
The inevitable question of Picasso’s legacy in the 21st century will be posed through the inclusion of the video I see a woman crying, 2009 by Rineke Dijkstra. This engaging contemporary work invites reflection on Picasso’s position as a point of reference for all who seek to understand the history of 20th century art.
