The Reserve Dining Room

1/2/2020

is at Amora Hotel Riverwalk Melbourne.
· At @fresco / now The Reserve Dining Room at Amora Hotel Riverwalk Melbourne for dinner - some yum yum - my full page review to follow- superb food , mind blowing coffee , immaculate service , romantic atmosphere to add
Entertainment Book
here we go:
we ordered Fish of the Day
The dish is a MUST to try
a tender flesh fish fillet served with pomegranate seeds (cooked that I have never tried before and they so zesty and taste delish - like a very sweet lemon - I should try this for my own kitchen). and roasted vegetables on decoration. The dish is topped with finger lime, the exotic fruit with a very intense lemony flavour - like one whole lemon in a small pin head ball inside the pod.
we also ordered mash and roasted young vegetables on the side
coffee was not a must but still ordered it just for the sake of "dinner finishing" and OMG what a coffee was it!!! 100% MUST to get.
Honestly , I keep visiting this place for the last 21 years regularly and that was the BEST experience I had there ! Thank you team !!!
Biggest thank you to the chef who created that tasty beauty - no fuss but soooooo full of hear cooking - delishiously masterpiece: Nadeera Gajasinghe floor manager: Veenu Braun and Jacky, our table very attentive waiter... Just a small note: the restaurant ran out of bread and Jacky went out of his way to get the soft and crusty bread with butter for our table. So I give:
5/5 for service
10/5 for food
5/5 for atmosphere (the place got just refurbished and looks so nice and even better than before!)
10/5 for coffees
So far it is my best place from the Entertainment Book experiences

Ducky Brown cafe, Langwarrin

17/1/2020

with Natasha Lukin at Ducky Brown Gateway.
 · Langwarrin, Melbourne · this is one of my other favorite places: Ducky Brown Cafe. Langwarrin, Victoria, Australia with their cool choices of food and that special touch that you expect from such place
we both ordered
egg breakfast with eggs benedict on sourdough bread with tomatoes, onion, avocado and beetroot - -yummmmmmm
not sure about these guys coffees but the coffee at McClelland Sculpture Park+Gallery was sublime!
atmosphere: 3/5
food: 4.5/5
service: 4/5 (no salt on the table and hard to find on the other tables)
the food is amazing but the menu is a bit messy to be honest and hard to find something that we wanted. plus they have dishes that are not on the menu - you have to search for them as the photos are at the front counter and no price to them too... -just the photos... IMHO this cafe was 10 times better two years ago. but lunch / breakfast in a good company does not make you notice small things...

Now & Then Cafe, Kew

17/1/2020

I adore this kitchen : healthy, freshest , zesty and always surprising in taste ... at Now & Then Cafe Kew . We ordered ocean squid salad and soba noodles and smoked salmon salad and very refreshing on s hot day ! Delish!
CRISPY SQUID SALAD
goes with thai herbs, mild chili, oranges , cashews and veggies. it is very hard for me to say what are the ingregients of the seasoning for this salad but it is makes a big difference to the zesty taste of this dish: it is sweet, salty and sour at the same time but in a very mild and balanced way
SOBA NOODLES SALAD
consists of Asian herbs, cucumber , avocado, carrots, edamame, kale, toasted sesame, and coleslaw with roasted sesame dressing. we ordered the dish with smoked salmon.
COFFEE
adding to this a note: the coffee was horrible and tasted like the one made out of the instant jars - nescafe or something... not good - mimus points for this one
it is actually one of my favourite offers from Entertainment Book ...
atmosphere: 5/5
food: 4.5/5
coffee: 0
service: 2/5
the Entertainment Book is valid till July 2020 and will let you travel across Victoria's best places with joy: plus when you buy from us you will support our magazines with $15 from each sale https://www.entertainment.com.au/orderbooks/182v887 that will not help us of course to live but will show your appreciation to what we do!

Victor Mahn present his new book called
"The Delirium of Negation"
When a grotesquely misshapen, murdered infant is left outside the army camp in the jungle in Borneo, during WWII, the medical officer who did the autopsy is prompted to investigate this horrific occurrence. Ricky (Rickety) and a team of rebellious Allied soldiers and their trackers head into the formidable jungle at night, ignoring the likelihood of being killed by Japanese soldiers in the area. The local mystic and shaman, Limbuang, accompanies them into the jungle but he sees what they cannot: there is evil afoot in the jungle tonight.
A series of strange events and eerie happenings piques the soldiers' interest and they are led into a terrible knowledge they cannot quite believe. We then race back in time to North India in 1779 and meet the innocent Siddhanath, who is in love with Kausalya. His lust for her drives him to seek the aid of the Rogue, a mysterious and powerful man who can arrange anything if the price is right. But Siddhanath is too naïve to know that the deal he strikes with the malevolent Wrath, a demon, with the aid of the Rogue, will cost him far more than he was ever prepared to pay. A dark tale of terror, karma, redemption and loss, The Delirium of Negation should keep you up at night.
The setting: British Borneo, 1945.

BOOK REVIEW
“The Delirium of Negation“
by Victor Mahn
Review by Susan Reynolds
A well researched novel with regard to historical setting and character description. The weight of war on the men living in the jungle of Borneo is appreciated but there’s a scenario no one could anticipate. No man has the power to defeat the supernatural”
In the novel focus shifts mid way from the war setting to take you into a mystical world. A world where unlike victors in a human battle the gods in the interplay take no prisoners. The book has several Titans of evil perpetuating war, one fought in physical battle WWII. We are made aware the Japanese are an on going threat to the soldiers. Then in the latter part of the book there’s a moral war between man and gods.
The journey into the supernatural lures you in with graphic details of events. It all happens when a man dares to break strict societal codes. He failed to listen to what was expected of him by his parents and pays a price. Horrific violence is at its peak not where it’s expected. Not in the theatre of war but in another place and time in Nth India 1779. It’s a world of suspense where anything can happen and human life can be readily extinguished.
Bohemian Rhapsody Weekly Magazine expresses its special thanks to the author for providing us with the opportunity to review the book and to Susan for her art work.

Heart and Soul by Matt Zurbo

26/7/2019

#MediaChampions, Slattery Media Group and AFL Publishing present a new book called #HeartAndSoul, Footy stories by those who played the game by Matt Zurbo https://books.slatterymedia.com/…/heart---soul--footy-stori…
“Football is a heart and soul game,” AFL Legend Ron Barassi once told Matt Zurbo. Taking that observation as his cue, Zurbo travelled across Australia interviewing players great and good, from the famous to the journeymen. In doing so, Zurbo—himself a veteran of 650 amateur games and counting—has recorded the footy stories of some of the game’s characters, from Rene Kink and Graham Cornes to Joe Misiti and Robert ‘Bones’ McGhie. The result is the players’ oral history of footy through seven decades, in their own words. In Heart and Soul: Footy stories by those who played the game, Zurbo has skilfully revived memories of the classic games, the torturous training sessions, and the premiership hijinks, taking us back into smoke-filled social clubs and the suburban fortresses at which myths and legends were born. For every marquee name like Barassi, from whom familiar and fantastical tales spill, there is an Ian Paton, Russell Renfrey or a Mark Zanotti—characters whose outsized tales of lives spent chasing a Sherrin never got quite the same airtime as the superstars of the game. Their stories are just as revealing. Footy fans with an abiding concern for the game—not only the results of matches, but of the moral health of the organisations who control them—often lament the intrusion of commercial forces on our native football code, a game for so long enmeshed in the lives of ordinary Australians.
Yet just as he has been so many other times down the years, Barassi is right: it is and always will be a heart and soul game. Playing the role of itinerant preacher, Matt Zurbo has deftly preserved the football stories of those who cherish footy every bit as much as he does.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Matt Zurbo is a forest worker and writer who has played over 650 games of footy, in mountains, coasts and cities across three states of Australia. He spent three years tracking down and sharing stories with the legends and characters of the game who comprise Heart & Soul.

Tolkien explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school.
