Subtitled "For lack of a better world," Koenig tries to create a better world by calling attention to sensations that made you think, "maybe it's just me, but…" His ' The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows' is a compendium of #InventedWords. Each original word and its definition aims to fill a hole in the language - to give a name to emotions we all might experience but don't yet have a word for. The author has a ferocious curiosity about the art and science of being human, especially language, mythology, poetry, and the natural world. His dictionary has been acclaimed by New York Magazine, Washington Post Express, author John Green, blogger Jason Kottke, and the guys from Radiolab Podcast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26JK_Xw_laQ we used many of Koenig's amazing words before as the key words for our magazines in the past. the next word is KLEXOS The Art of Dwelling on the Past https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxN1YnVUfjM Your life is written in indelible ink. There's no going back to erase the past, tweak your mistakes, or fill in missed opportunities. When the moment's over, your fate is sealed. But if look closer, you notice the ink never really dries on any our experiences. They can change their meaning the longer you look at them. Klexos. There are ways of thinking about the past that aren't just nostalgia or regret. A kind of questioning that enriches an experience after the fact. To dwell on the past is to allow fresh context to trickle in over the years, and fill out the picture; to keep the memory alive, and not just as a caricature of itself. So you can look fairly at a painful experience, and call it by its name. Time is the most powerful force in the universe. It can turn a giant into someone utterly human, just trying to make their way through. Or tell you how you really felt about someone, even if you couldn't at the time. It can put your childhood dreams in context with adult burdens or turn a universal consensus into an embarrassing fad. It can expose cracks in a relationship that once seemed perfect. Or keep a friendship going by thoughts alone, even if you'll never see them again. It can flip your greatest shame into the source of your greatest power, or turn a jolt of pride into something petty, done for the wrong reasons, or make what felt like the end of the world look like a natural part of life. The past is still mostly a blank page, so we may be doomed to repeat it. But it's still worth looking into if it brings you closer to the truth. Maybe it's not so bad to dwell in the past, and muddle in the memories, to stem the simplification of time, and put some craft back into it. Maybe we should think of memory itself as an art form, in which the real work begins as soon as the paint hits the canvas. And remember that a work of art is never finished, only abandoned. Time to sleep again however my dogs are so excited seeing the new place around - there is no chance ! Lilian arrives with her models and it is time to remember the gate code... My brain reads it backwards of course... as usual The sun promises to be merciless and close to 45 up the Celsius scale. Celsius should have chosen a different units of measure then we would have colder summers here perhaps... :) [ one lousy attempt for a joke ] I AM SWEATING ALL MY SWEATS OFF - to my total horror I can not find the keys from the studio... but all thanks for the tallest model Jacob and his parents to grew him this way - the keys are finally located... I wish I had Jacob's parents but my country constitution was different from Australian. The cars start to arrive - our crew is so well organised this time. Everyone is here. We are ready in no time but before the girls finished Shep a German Shepherd who failed to be a police dog as he was way too kind takes my 4 pups and himself for a long stroll around the estate. If I had 100 jaws they would all drop down from the beauty we all saw however Tosha and Snoop have no time to waste and they are preoccupied with Shep's nostalgia for smallest dogs and how to order them around. Snoop gives up but Tosha is ripping off his weakening thought chakra - all in vain! Shep is not going to change his mind - the ground definitely belongs to him to matter how unhappy Tosha's feeling turn to be... The sun is still tender but it never will fail its early promise- HOTTEST and driest day! Morning green teas and coffees and the models are all ready... Gary? Ian?.. Fargo arrives with Robyn - all on German clock time and German Shep is very happy - he has now smaller space to chase Tosha from one corner of Gary's studio to another... Gary? Ian? Oh, they are both here and what? The models are not ready? Yes they are and the media start to surround them taking them all to the secret places only they know to shoot the best... I am staying : AGAIN! behind to mind the pups and the camp fire.. Time to sleep for another 15 min... however the rush back stage continues and our make up artist is still working hard . The air conditioner inside the studio is on .I walk around: there are so many props and so many props: I wonder how Gary remembers where is what... but he does... I saw his look - he does... The rest of the models are getting ready slowly one by one... They change dresses and one is better looking than the other: the magic is created.. .it is here, in the air, it is next to the rustic ageing estate walls that look superb as he paradise should look for any photographer... Gary, you have no idea how lucky you are, mate! It is close to 1030am when the sun is felt already on the models' skin and it is time to go home.. Penny is bitten by some crazy insect and she squall and does not allow me to pet her.. Quick stop over for fresh orange juice and a drive back home.. Now I can sleep.. No, I can not , I am still driving.. Sleep, sleep, no, drive, drive... It was the most dangerous way back home... I ended up on the neighbour's lane for at least 10 times... HOME, sleep.. not no - I forgot Gary's keys in my wallet!!! It is not funny guys and girls , not at all... Published by Natasha Marchev · 1 hr · No, our day did not start early ... but it did... 0500am wake up is not early any more for such projects... we were at the Alternative View Alpaca Farm at around 0100pm though as we had to sop several times to walk the dogs - so the drive turned to be close to 5 hours plus a stop over for coffee to wake up the sleepy driver (myself in this case). I am extremely grateful to Blaise Maree for this accidental discovery of mine as the owner of the Victoria's most famous and most desired by tourist and local Australians, Alpaca Farm was all in our disposal for the day and night. Special thanks also to Blaise's best friend Ali Birch who helped us so much with many things to list some: photo shoot cutest model and best ever peaches owner, the fruit that warmed my heart this season (!!!!) :) Brigitte Kats turned out not only to be the best ever host who spent hours with us walking alpacas in the forest (best-est and cutest experience of my life with these smart humming animals with the biggest and most beautiful eyes ever!) , then allowing us so much time to photo hoot the animals but also the woman full of knowledge (and not only about alpacas but spiritual awareness and conscious living on this planet.. you really need one only sentence, only one deep comment to know that in your heart: who the person really is ) Brigitee house was warm and and very cozy. We came back with more members to our crew apart from my travelling pals: Misha and Elena Tretiakova. When we came back Erkin , our photographer was already in the house and Elena Fostri, our third model for the day was there too. The cottage where we stayed was surrounded by gardens full of flowers: wild and growing in the lush soil of the South Gippsland region and Mirboo North in particular, they khorovoded the house like the jewels in the forest people's necklaces. The colors were breathtaking so my camera could not stop working and I could not stop walking around the farm... The cottage to accommodation fits 7 people settling in 3 bedrooms and also has a living room with open plan kitchen, toilet and bathroom. I also noticed that the house was decorated with lots of abstract image painted panos (table, bathroom panels, bathtub, par ts of the walls etc etc) but forgot to ask Brigitte what are they were: they looked like some one's art works... The pups were curious searching each and every corner of the garden, making new friends with chickens roosters, turkeys and dogs of course. It was a bit wet to show them alpacas and we were scared to make the animals nervous. The air was pure oxygen, I have no words to describe it... it came all the way from the mountains and the ocean .. .though my mobile phone could not stop getting the messages about tomorrow's weather in the region.. I kept replying that the weather was amazing but in reality the rain was teasing us appearing and dripping here and there with the mercury falling down to 13 degrees - we were all freezing... The bigger rain literally washed away all our hopes for the alpaca shoot on the day... I was scared to say to Blaise that we still have to dress up and shoot... The garden at the cottage seemed small but at least it had a shelter to hide the rain would change it mind again... There are more than 200 Aplacas at the farm but needed we only 2 for an hour which for them probably felt like eternity... They kept humming and asking for food... All dressed up three models courageously occupied the garden while Misha joined them for the later shoot dressed like American Indian (biggest thank you to Erkin for the costumes for both Blaise and Misha!). When the dark hour fell down at the farm and the stars could not be seen through the thick clouds Elena opened a bottle of Russian champagne and served the softest Italian cake that we all shared - biggest thank you Elena! The first bottle went under the table emptied out and was exchanged for a new one that went in the blink of an eye... what do we do to warm up after a joyful dinner? dance of course... the music was on so was Erkin with suddenly discovered drum in one of the bedrooms.... Elena danced and we just laughed and applauded to the spontaneous concert... Do you think the evening stopped there? no way! Erkin dressed Blaise and Misha again in the American Indian outfits and they went out for the night shot... I know 100% that Misha is Russian but poor Blaise was freezing to death... All well.. we went to bed after the marshmallows open fire roast... The camp went to sleep and they said only my bear mother snoring was waking up the frightened alpacas in the stud... :) we worked hard as we gave out the light so did the stars as they did the same all night... added 45 new photos to the album: DEER FARM SHOOT. - Neglecting all the snoring and champagne overload drinking last night the fact was approaching us despite all our resistance: we all had to wake up at 0530am to get ready for the make up and hair... the next day had to bring us new animals and I was very nervous as apparently deer were wild. Tim and Michael Vella have been running their deer farm for many many decades now but the 300 animals on the property that they have were far away from being pets ... The bucks were in full horns decorations and some of the does were heavily pregnant and with one wrong move these wilds could smash our models and photographers to dust... I was nervous... I was though hoping for the best... The weather was as cold as only second summer day could be - 10 degrees and winding like hell... Make up - done, hair - done, fitting - done... cleaning up the Alpaca cottage, driving to the location after saying biggest thank you to Brigitte - done... one and a half hours late we are still though... our make up artist: Juedd Mari with so much patience (no idea what she though when she saw she had to prepare 5 girls in full bloom) ...Juedd, our star! our new models have arrived: Jesi Faun and Brie (p. Janelle Bellydancer with a cute assistant and Brie's sister)... Look who does not want to wake up ? No not Misha... He is dancing with Erkin and Ali to Michael Jackson's tune... The are sleepy pups - too much fresh air... and no food... make up to those who wake up! Andrew J Liu knocks at the door and snoops around the Alpaca farm for the good images and footage... arriving to the location -finally and meeting our hosts: Michael and Tim Vella from the Terramirra Deer Farm at Koonwarra... 30 min drive from the Alpaca Farm - another beautiful country of meadows and endless pastures. Peter Elgar joined us as a second photographer. The models are freezing... 10 degrees and it is getting winder and windier... Hansika on more model joins us at the deer sheds and Juedd works non stop... while we suddenly discover geese and small deer baby at one of the sheds... Sam Jones is there too to join our male models small crew. oh, deer... the fitting is finished and we are all ready to drive down the hill to see the real thing, not the coca-cola now... the deer herd.. huge... it appears in front of us in all its glory headed by the most beautiful stag I have ever seen so close in my life... .they all come to check us out.. not they are scared of us. Tim Vella spent weeks before the shoot feeding the main heroes so they feel comfortable next to humans ... they are timid and the eat non stop like cows following models' hands... TIM< THANK YOU! So much work.. so much cold... my body is shattered so I think most of the crew members feel... I'm so hungry too as we have not practically eaten anything apart from champagne and my morning gorgeous vegimate bread (thank you Blaise!) time to go home and I fell asleep in the car after 15 min of driving - good thing Misha takes over... I only wake up at his place. Such a fruitful day.. .Such fruitful two days in a row... shooting is fun - if only we all had 48 hours a day for all of this.. The costumes were all stunning, the models were all terrific. I am so happy it all went well... My brain had so much air and information in these two days I had to fall asleep again... and again and again.. two days of sleeping! Dear Deer and dear Alpacas, thank you!
