Following the success of Jurassic Unearthed by Silvers Circus, Showtime Attractions and Silvers Circus have once again joined forces to bring their most exciting and ambitious spectacular yet to Australia. Sesame Street Circus Spectacular by Silvers will open in Melbourne on Wednesday 11th September before touring other Cities and Regional Centers across Australia and New Zealand.
Featured in this 90-minute spectacular will be all your favourite Sesame Street characters including Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Bert, Ernie, Super Grover and Big Bird. In addition to the Sesame Street characters, the Circus will feature performances from Columbia, Argentina, Switzerland, Australia, Ethiopia, Brazil and Morocco.
For the children the excitement starts upon arrival. Once you enter the foyer you will find an interactive drawing table where you can learn to draw your favourite sesame street characters. You will also be able to play in “Elmo’s World” where you can bounce around in the ball pit! After the show you can meet Big Bird and have your photo taken with him. The music has been written and produced locally and will include all the much-loved Sesame Street voices, recorded especially for this production.
Keith Brown, from Showtime Attractions, has left nothing to chance with this brand-new family entertainment experience.
“We spent time in New York with the whole crew from Sesame Street. Recording their voices and making sure that each character’s personality is matched to their role in this brand-new show” he said “We wanted to bring an authentic Sesame Street experience to our audiences so we needed to make sure that Super Grover was part of something daring, that Elmo would be in a happy environment and that Cookie Monster would be eating.” He continued.
This brand-new 90-minute production will perform in a spectacular new tent, with a capacity of 1000, which was designed and developed in Italy especially for this tour and will offer everything from wind resistance to shading for guests during hot weather. Showtime Attractions and Silvers have left no stone unturned to ensure they offer families an experience that children will walk away talking about. And they have certainly achieved that.

Brian Donnelly (born 1974), aka KAWS, is one of the most prominent and prolific artists of his generation. His body of work straddles the worlds of art and design to include paintings, murals, large-scale sculptures, street and public art, and graphic and product design. His work is infused with humour, humanity and affection for our times. Admired for his larger-than-life sculptures and colour-filled paintings, KAWS’s cast of hybrid cartoon and human characters are drawn from pop-culture animations and form a distinctive artistic vocabulary. The exhibition title KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness foregrounds the emotional content of the artist’s work. Through his works KAWS celebrates generosity, support for others and the deep need we have for companionship. KAWS represents someone who is very much of our time in terms of working across contexts and in hybrid and collaborative ways, and his work presents an antidote or rejoinder to the increasingly toxic nature of public discourse and social media, and division within and across societies. He reminds us we need one another and that life should be lived as compassionately as possible to combat this ‘Age of Loneliness’, in the face of fear and hatred.
KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness is a major contribution to the growing international reputation of this contemporary artist. It follows KAWS’s recent solo presentations at Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (2016), the Yuz Museum Shanghai and the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (2017) and the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Foundation (2019). This exhibition introduces audiences to the full range of KAWS’s artistic output, including a newly commissioned monumental sculpture (his largest bronze sculpture to date), paintings reworking pop-culture figures and an impressive collection of human-scale sculptural figures. KAWS’s collaborations with other artists and major brands and his own products will also be explored. An accompanying publication features specially commissioned texts, and documents the breadth of KAWS’s artistic and design practice.

From the producers of Blood Brothers, Ben Elton and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s award winning musical The Beautiful Game premieres at Chapel Off Chapel. Set in Northern Ireland in the troubled 1970s, The Beautiful Game tells the story of ordinary people in an extraordinary situation. The story is centered on a local football (soccer) team, who attempt to overcome the emerging political and religious violence that has engulfed their community.
Ben Elton’s book is told with humour and compassion, while his lyrics are both funny and heartbreaking. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s evocative score combines heart-searing ballads and stirring anthems with the sounds of Ireland. The Beautiful Game originally opened at the Cambridge Theatre in London in September 2000. Although created almost 20 years ago, “this piece isn’t really about the Irish problem but about the futility of these conflicts the world over and how they keep repeating themselves,” says Andrew Lloyd Webber. Although this is an Irish story, the themes and sentiments of The Beautiful Game are universal. All over the world communities are challenged by violence and hatred.
The cast of 24 is headed up by Stephen Mahy and Stephanie Wall. Joining them will be Nicola Bowman, Nigel Huckle, Des Flanagan, David Meadows, Ellie Nunan, Samuel Skuthorp and Sam Ward. The creative team includes direction by Karen Jemison, musical direction by Daniele Buatti and choreography by Sue-Ellen Shook.

Civilization: The Way We Live Now is an international photography exhibition of monumental scale, featuring the work of over 100 contemporary photographers from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia and Europe with over 200 original photographs being exhibited. In this increasingly globalised world, the exhibition explores photographers’ representations of life in cities as its key theme and presents a journey through the shared aspects of life in the urban environment. The selected works create a picture of collective life around the world and document patterns of mass behaviour. The exhibition looks at the phenomenal complexity of life in the twenty-first century and reflects on the ways in which photographers have documented, and held a mirror up, to the world around us.
A major publication is being produced by Thames & Hudson in parallel with the exhibition. Civilization: The Way We Live Now has been produced by the Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography, Minneapolis/New York/Paris/Lausanne and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, in consultation with the National Gallery of Victoria.
