The first of its kind to be held in Australia, the Australian Belly Dance Convention (aka #bellycon23 ) will be held in Melbourne from the 6th to the 9th July 2023 at the Brunswick Town Hall, Sydney Rd Brunswick (Melbourne). With representatives of our Belly Dance community and other related dance formats from across the country! Expand your knowledge with lectures, panels and sessions on topics such as;

But what is a “belly dance convention”?
I’m so glad you asked. A dance convention is typically a group of workshop and other similar sessions that are taught by multiple teachers over a number of days. These sessions can be very specialized or be a mix of many dance styles and skill levels. It’s also a chance for professional through to hobbyist dancers alike to share knowledge, connect with each other and enjoy a weekend of learning, sharing and dancing.
Who is the belly dance convention for?
You! It is for teachers and students; older and younger dancers; experienced and inexperienced dancers; professional dancers and hobbyists. Basically, everyone! The idea is there are a lot of different sessions aimed at different levels.

Sessions:
Thursday 6th July
What: 7-10pm ish - Welcome Dinner with keynote presentation by #Indigenous Outreach Projects and Q&A with the ABDC Committee.
Friday 7th July - DAYTIME
What: A choice of 15 sessions during the day between 8:45am and 5:45pm
Friday 7th July - NIGHT
What: Welcome to #Zerzura curated stage show - audience doors 7pm, finish approx 10.30pm
Saturday 8th July - DAYTIME
What: A choice of 15 sessions during the day between 8:45am and 5:45pm
Saturday 8th July - NIGHT
What: Winter Dreams show - audience doors 7pm, finish approx 10.30pm
Sunday 9th July
What: Market stalls and open stage performances between 10am-3pm (performances commence 11am)
