MY PERSONAL CHOICE - APPLE AND CINNAMON (November) that is my favorite personal choice that I take from all the seasons... I have no idea why: it reminds me of my childhood and my mum making me the apple and cinnamon pie - charlottka which was always the little house celebration of the family brought together by the freshness of fruit and home baking magic ritual. The overall impression from all Taprobane teas: I really valued the high quality of the brand and historically a tendency to love fruit infused teas with beautiful pictures on the packages however the traditional green and black teas are as well amazingly delicious. I also loved the idea of having a wild animal as a totem for the logo of this company: cheetah which associates in our minds with vitality, speed, heath and the most energetic animal in the animal kingdom. The more tea you drink the faster you go - up to 121 km/h Taprobane Tea WINTER Green Tea with Ginger (June) this is a green tea with pungently spicy ginger notes. this unique combination is a delight sweet, fresh and warm. High Grown Green Tea (July) this is a true Sri Lankan beauty with its light, pleasantly reinvigorating flavours. Green Tea with Mint (August) this tea is truly revitalizing with a soft minty notes that is just telling you a little secret with each sip recharging your immune system I am so falling in love with these teas... Taprobane Tea AUTUMN Green Tea with Pomegranate (March) this tea is a mysterious Eastern and Mediterranean blend that will take you travelling in your dreams to the most exotic countries and regions on Earth. The flavour is not very strong as I would expected. It is rather mild and pleasant. It was a great idea to make it not with black but with green tea leaves. I believe the black tea would overpower the pomegranate delicate fusion. Black Tea with Mango (April) there is no person on the planet Earth who would not love sugary mangoes. this tea is amazing: its striking taste sensation would not leave you unsatisfied and will guarantee a paradise in your mouth. it is smooth, sweet but not over-treacly. It matches amazingly well with the aromatic black tea combination. Green Tea with Citrus (May) citrus always goes perfectly well with any tea. This tea is spicy in its own way and goes well with green fusion. the taste contains mandarin, orange and lemon with a balanced and original feel on your tongue. you will enjoy it as I did Taprobane Tea SUMMER Black Tea with Apple and Cinnamon (December) this is a natural and distinctive blend of premium Ceylon black tea with flavorful apple pieces mixed with aromatic woody taste of cinnamon from the fields and meadows of Sri Lanka. It smells an tastes like a real sweet and delicious cinnamon and apple pie. Black Tea with Rose Petals (January) this is your passionate amorous tea, a sensational blend of Ceylon black tea with tender and gently fragrant rose petals. The tea to fall in love with that will be a perfect gift for your loved ones. Black Tea with Berries (February) this tea is a mix of a premium Ceylon black tea with sweetest cherries, fresh farm tasty strawberries and juicy blueberries. the tea taste is superlative Modern Currency invites you to experience the flavoursome beauty of Taprobane Teas WEBSITE: https://taprobanetea.com.au The Mission Statement of Taprobane Tea Company: Our goal is to provide the freshest most luscious teas to all tea lovers, everywhere! We promise: "A Smile With Every Sip!" Products Premium Black Tea Premium Green Tea Black Tea with Rose Petals Black Tea with Mango Black Tea with Apple & Cinnamon Black Tea with Berries Green Tea with Pomegranate Green Tea with Citrus Green Tea with Blueberries Green Tea with Ginger Green Tea with Mint At the Taprobane Tea Company our most important aspiration is to bring premium quality tea to the tea cups of all Australians. Our motto is “A Smile With Every Sip!” To achieve this aspiration we select only premium quality, high grown Ceylon teas. The tea leaves in our products are collected by hand from tea gardens located at the highest elevations in Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon). Typically, skilled workers pick only the freshest growth – the top two young leaves and a bud. This careful hand-picking of the leaves is one of the reasons that Ceylon tea is of such high quality. Within a few hours of plucking the fresh tea leaves are processed at tea factories on site. Within a very short time, twenty-four hours at most, the tea is ready for drinking. Our premium quality black tea and green tea are certified 100% pure Ceylon Tea by the Ceylon Tea Board and so our products carry the Lion Symbol of quality. We also have a range of delectable flavoured black and green teas for you to enjoy. Tea is the most widely drunk beverage in the world. Over one and a half billion cups of tea are consumed every day. The “tea drinker… with tea amuses the evening, with tea solaces the midnight, and with tea welcomes the morning.” (~Samuel Johnson) Tea, whether it is black tea or green tea, is a health-full beverage that is both calorie-free and fat-free and is low in sodium. It also contains calcium, folic acid and the vitamins B1, B2 and B3. Tea is naturally rich in anti-oxidants so you can be sure that when you drink our tea you are consuming a health-full beverage rich with the most wonderful aromas and flavours. All of our black tea and green tea products can be enjoyed steaming hot or chilled with ice. We do hope you enjoy them. At Taprobane Tea Company we insist on the highest quality. With this in mind we carefully selected one of the very best blending and processing facilities in Sri Lanka to prepare our products. In a joint venture project with one of the largest importers of tea to Japan, our supplier built a state-of-the-art tea cleaning, blending and processing plant. They have standards of the highest quality and have certification from the following1: National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia; Internal Organization for Standardization for Quality Management and Food Safety Management; Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points; Food Safety System; and Good Manufacturing Practices. The management of the blending and processing facility has also incorporated stringent measures to ensure employee safety. In addition, it is an equal opportunity employer and its remuneration packages are well above industry standards. The impressive tea processing equipment at the plant consists of a dust containment unit, which extracts excess dust particles to give a clean, uniform tea blend; magnet units and metal detection units to remove any metallic particles from the tea; a sifter and vibration unit which removes any impurities from tea and; lastly, a blending drum which thoroughly mixes tea to obtain a uniform blend. The plant has a specially designed and scientifically equipped facility for quality control and for tasting and analysing all teas. The blends of teas are carefully selected by expert tea tasters who take careful note of such factors as leaf appearance, colour, aroma and strength of brew. Lastly, tea bags are manufactured on sophisticated machinery that produces Double Chamber tea bags with a String and Tag. Note that metal staples are not used to attach the string and tags to the tea bags. Double Chamber tea bags produce a faster and more even brew of tea than the traditional single chamber tea bags. All of this means that Taprobane Tea Company products are carefully chosen and hygienically processed so that our customers receive premium quality black, green and flavoured teas1. All thanks to our friends at Tabrobane Tea and Modern Currency we have the range of 11 teas to review and comment. We decided to make it very special - the same way these teas are. teaser: i guess it was a day of some cool meetings: Peter Morris for classic aussie eggs benedict breakfast and MARQUIS FASHION MAGAZINEs Natalya Serebrych and Elena Tretiakova for chinese green tea and amazing business opportunities Yaroslavna Breeze accidental for MARQUIS FASHION MAGAZINE Oksana Newton for japanese lunch and MARQUIS FASHION MAGAZINE what's next? No better place to celebrate your love for coffee than at Coffee Expo at #MCEC There is a vast variety of local and international coffee blends to tickle your coffee taste buds as well as the range of coffee machines, coffee beans, coffee related equipment, technology and drinks to experience. There lots of stalls offering great coffee experiences - a select few is described below: 1. @5Senses - cold coffee with maple blend gives a smoky flavour to your taste buds - the stall was very crowded and the company staff provided a great customer service in providing tastings for their innovative product portfolio 2. @GBNRosteries from Indonesia who got a great coverage and interest from local roasteries for their beans. They mentioned that they love the welcoming warmth they got from Australian businesses and people and loved the venue at MCEC. They specialise in dark roast and will come back next year with lots of potential for business opportunities. I visited exhibition with my friends and their families and we all had so much fun and free samples to take home. As we do not consume cow milk we were pleasantly surprised that the exhibition offered a range of almond milk products a well as variety of soy milk, and some special milks created just fr coffee lovers. Whether you are a coffee aficionado, enthusiast, industry member or a first time coffee adventurer, the MICE ( Melbourne International Coffee Festival) has something for everyone. MICE launched in 2012 and this year was the first year that they called Melbourne Exhibition Convention and Exhibition Centre Home. And what an amazing space it was, to exhibit all things coffee. I would not be writing an honest review if I didn’t mention first and foremost the Nexus One Espresso Machine. If you are in the same room as this amazing beautiful piece of artwork/coffee machine, its impossible to miss. Designed in the Netherlands and engineered in Australia by Aremde, the ‘less machine’ ‘more experience’ principle is indeed what makes this piece of equipment a stand out amongst all other coffee machines I have seen. Next stop for me was the ibubambu stand which was showcasing a beautiful array of environmentally friendly and sustainable non disposable coffee cups. . In a world where we should all try to be more environmentally conscious and look for sustainable options , Ibibambu cup is a new generation of reusable takeaway cup created by the worlds fastest growing most sustainable crop, bamboo fibre. Jon Egan, who is a national distributor for Ibibambu proudly showed me around his stand where I discovered a beautiful array gorgeously decorated and patterned Eco friendly coffee cups with that point of difference. After a wander around and sampling of some amazing piccolos form the likes of St Ali coffee roasters, Lavazza, Califia, and Maltra Foods ( who whipped me up a white chocolate and sesame frappauino from their exciting new range of powdered flavours which was absolutely divine !! ), I stumbled across Paul at the Veneziano Coffee Roasters stand, where he was mixing up some very impressive coffee frappacuinno mock-tails. Utilising their famous Bond Street Espresso, along with some Billsons Blood Orange and Cardamon Cordial, Moda Sparkling and Orange Mist, this drink was an absolute stand out for me and I will defiantly be visiting Veneziano in Richmond to further explore their innovative coffee menu which has a distinctive and exciting point of difference for all coffee lovers. As the largest dedicated coffee show in the Southern Hemisphere the Melbourne International Coffee Exhibition, for me, will now become a must do every year ! What a fabulous way to explore all that coffee has to offer. photos: Roslynne Garwood-Webb Bohemian Rhapsody Weekly Magazine expresses its special thanks to the managers and organisers of the show and personally to #SarahBaker and Lauren Winterbottom from Prime Creative Media and BeanScene Magazinefor the generous giveaway and the opportunity to cover the show as well as to Roslynne for her very comprehensive coverage Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE2019) took place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) from 7-9 February Max Lyons writes and reviews one of the exhibitors: Brand: Minor Figures Product: 'Nitro' Cold Brew Coffee & Oat Milk Question: What makes your product special? Response: "Our coffee is made using seasonally-sourced coffee beans and extracted using our unique cold brewing method. This enriches the flavour of the beans to produce an immensely flavourful drink that's more gentle on the tongue compared to traditional methods, with a more natural sweetness and a less bitter taste. Our drinks are then infused with silky nitrogen bubbles and canned, a method known as "Nitro" brewing. This gives each coffee a foamy cascading texture and a real latte head in every can. Our coffee comes in 3 variations: black (straight coffee), latte (with milk), and mocha (with milk and cocoa). The latter two are made with our specialised oat milk, meaning all our products are 100% plant-based and therefore dairy free, naturally lactose-free, and free from animal protein. Moreover, they all contain absolutely no added sugar. And it tastes great! It's hard to do better than that." --- Reflection: I picked Minor Figures exhibitor for several reasons. For one, their products all taste great all while being made from more natural and healthy ingredients (a feat more than impressive in its own right). Not only that but as a brand and manufacturer they are extremely environmentally conscious, ensuring they source their ingredients in the most environmentally conservative manner as well as striving to produce a minimal carbon footprint. And a personal preference, but I quite like the art and illustrations associated with their brand and products. It's not only quite quirky and unique, but serves as a double meaning relating to the "misleading" nature of their product; not in a bad way, however - the product's taste would make it seem alike most other products on the market, but is "misleading" in the sense that it's actually an extremely enjoyable healthy alternative to such aforementioned products (which often contain plentiful sugars and additives to achieve their great taste). photo: #SamBell Bohemian Rhapsody Weekly Magazine expresses its special thanks to the managers and organisers of the show and personally to #SarahBaker and Lauren Winterbottom from Prime Creative Media and BeanScene Magazinefor the generous giveaway and the opportunity to cover the show as well as to Mac and Sam for their original pick and immaculate writing - thank you guys!
