we announced a little challenge to the winners of our tickets giveaway last month (that was apart from the main event coverage)
they had to pick up the most interesting and attractive company at the expo #MICE2019...
here we go - Olga Kirk's choice which really pleasantly surprised and amazed me as I know the owners from my two previous personal meetings with them at the Trades Centre CBD: Matti and Abdul... and I absolutely agree with Olga - their product is a stunner so are the people who work there: very kind, social, down to earth and extremely happy souls!
Olga asked the owner of Chai Spice (Abdul):
What is the main challenge in your business?
Abdul replied:
1 - creating the best product from all natural ingredients
2 - bringing the knowledge and educating the coffee lovers about the methods of creating the best products from various ingredients and most delicious coffee beans

here we go - @AmitSingh's review and photos:
"Australians are coffee lovers! No better place to celebrate your love for coffee than at Coffee Expo at #MCEC
There is a vast variety of local and international coffee blends to tickle your coffee taste buds as well as the range of coffee machines, coffee beans, coffee related equipment, technology and drinks to experience.
There lots of stalls offering great coffee experiences - a select few is described below:
1. @5Senses - cold coffee with maple blend gives a smoky flavour to your taste buds - the stall was very crowded and the company staff provided a great customer service in providing tastings for their innovative product portfolio
2. @GBNRosteries from Indonesia who got a great coverage and interest from local roasteries for their beans. They mentioned that they love the welcoming warmth they got from Australian businesses and people and loved the venue at MCEC. They specialise in dark roast and will come back next year with lots of potential for business opportunities.
I visited exhibition with my friends and their families and we all had so much fun and free samples to take home. As we do not consume cow milk we were pleasantly surprised that the exhibition offered a range of almond milk products a well as variety of soy milk, and some special milks created just fr coffee lovers. Saturday 9th February 2019 and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is buzzing with a cool enthusiastic coffee vibe as traders and exhibitors head into their third and final day of convention. Whether you are a coffee aficionado, enthusiast, industry member or a first time coffee adventurer, the MICE ( Melbourne International Coffee Festival) has something for everyone.
MICE launched in 2012 and this year was the first year that they called Melbourne Exhibition Convention and Exhibition Centre Home. And what an amazing space it was, to exhibit all things coffee.
I would not be writing an honest review if I didn’t mention first and foremost the Nexus One Espresso Machine. If you are in the same room as this amazing beautiful piece of artwork/coffee machine, its impossible to miss. Designed in the Netherlands and engineered in Australia by Aremde, the ‘less machine’ ‘more experience’ principle is indeed what makes this piece of equipment a stand out amongst all other coffee machines I have seen.
Next stop for me was the ibubambu stand which was showcasing a beautiful array of environmentally friendly and sustainable non disposable coffee cups. . In a world where we should all try to be more environmentally conscious and look for sustainable options , Ibibambu cup is a new generation of reusable takeaway cup created by the worlds fastest growing most sustainable crop, bamboo fibre. Jon Egan, who is a national distributor for Ibibambu proudly showed me around his stand where I discovered a beautiful array gorgeously decorated and patterned Eco friendly coffee cups with that point of difference.
After a wander around and sampling of some amazing piccolos form the likes of St Ali coffee roasters, Lavazza, Califia, and Maltra Foods ( who whipped me up a white chocolate and sesame frappauino from their exciting new range of powdered flavours which was absolutely divine !! ), I stumbled across Paul at the Veneziano Coffee Roasters stand, where he was mixing up some very impressive coffee frappacuinno mock-tails. Utilising their famous Bond Street Espresso, along with some Billsons Blood Orange and Cardamon Cordial, Moda Sparkling and Orange Mist, this drink was an absolute stand out for me and I will defiantly be visiting Veneziano in Richmond to further explore their innovative coffee menu which has a distinctive and exciting point of difference for all coffee lovers.
As the largest dedicated coffee show in the Southern Hemisphere the Melbourne International Coffee Exhibition, for me, will now become a must do every year ! What a fabulous way to explore all that coffee has to offer.

Max Lyons writes and reviews one of the exhibitors:
Brand:
Minor Figures
Product:
'Nitro' Cold Brew Coffee & Oat Milk
Question:
What makes your product special?
Response:
"Our coffee is made using seasonally-sourced coffee beans and extracted using our unique cold brewing method. This enriches the flavour of the beans to produce an immensely flavourful drink that's more gentle on the tongue compared to traditional methods, with a more natural sweetness and a less bitter taste. Our drinks are then infused with silky nitrogen bubbles and canned, a method known as "Nitro" brewing. This gives each coffee a foamy cascading texture and a real latte head in every can.
Our coffee comes in 3 variations:
black (straight coffee),
latte (with milk), and
mocha (with milk and cocoa).
The latter two are made with our specialised oat milk, meaning all our products are 100% plant-based and therefore dairy free, naturally lactose-free, and free from animal protein. Moreover, they all contain absolutely no added sugar. And it tastes great! It's hard to do better than that."
---
Reflection:
I picked Minor Figures exhibitor for several reasons. For one, their products all taste great all while being made from more natural and healthy ingredients (a feat more than impressive in its own right). Not only that but as a brand and manufacturer they are extremely environmentally conscious, ensuring they source their ingredients in the most environmentally conservative manner as well as striving to produce a minimal carbon footprint. And a personal preference, but I quite like the art and illustrations associated with their brand and products. It's not only quite quirky and unique, but serves as a double meaning relating to the "misleading" nature of their product; not in a bad way, however - the product's taste would make it seem alike most other products on the market, but is "misleading" in the sense that it's actually an extremely enjoyable healthy alternative to such aforementioned products (which often contain plentiful sugars and additives to achieve their great taste).
