Following the outstanding success of Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos and Rossini's La Cenerentola, #CitiOpera returns with a stunning production of Verdi’s Il Trovatore. This magnificent opera stars an outstanding international cast, headed by Korea National Opera’s Principal Tenor Yoon Byung Kil as Manrico, 2015 Herald Sun Aria winner Fiona Jopson as Leonora, the outstanding Helen Hill as Azucena, emerging young talent Samuel Thomas-Holland as Count di Luna and Opera Australia’s Eddie Muliaumaseali’i as Ferrando.
Direct from Italy, Maestro Gaetano Colajanni leads CitiOpera’s celebrated Orchestra and Chorus. Previous successes with CitiOpera include Verdi’s Otello and Leoncavallo’s Cavalleria Rusticana. Directed by Stella Axarlis AM, the production reflects the rich tradition of operatic passion, violence and love on stage. Axarlis, who has made the transition from world-renowned singer to passionate director, has led a number of highly acclaimed productions, including Otello, Cavalleria Rusticana and Ariadne auf Naxos.
This is not a production to be missed!
