Directed by Rosemary Myers and based on the acclaimed production by Adelaide’s Windmill Theatre, Girl Asleep is a journey into the absurd, scary and beautiful heart of the teenage mind. Girl Asleep debuted at the Adelaide Film Festival last year, where it was the fastest selling title in Festival history, before it then went on to charm festival audiences in Berlin, Stockholm, Buenos Aires, Jeonju, Bogota, New York City, and Seattle, where it received the Grand Jury Prize at the Seattle International Film Festival in June.
On the cusp of turning fifteen and confronted with an incomprehensible new world, Greta Driscoll ( Bethany Whitmore) can’t bear to leave her childhood behind. She floats in a bubble of loserdom with her only friend Elliott (#HarrisonFeldman ), until her parents throw a surprise 15th birthday party and Greta is flung into a dreamy, parallel universe – bizarrely erotic, a little violent, and thoroughly ludicrous. Only in this strange, surprising world can Greta truly find herself.
