The AusMumpreneur Awards, facilitated by The Women’s Business School, acknowledge and laud Australian Mums in business who have shown remarkable success in various domains, including business excellence, product development, customer service, and digital innovation. These awards particularly honour women who have expertly managed the delicate equilibrium between motherhood and entrepreneurship to fit their lifestyle and family commitments.
From Humble Beginnings to Fashion Entrepreneur
Lilian Bermudez wears many hats. She is a Fashion Designer, a Medical Receptionist, a mother of four, and a grandmother of two. Bermudez’s journey, which began in the modest settings of Barangay Atipuluan in Negros Occidental, Philippines, has seen her transcend adversity and hardship to fulfill her dream of becoming a successful fashion entrepreneur. Her mother, her greatest source of inspiration, introduced her to sewing at a young age, igniting a passion that would eventually lay the foundation for her fashion business.
Bermudez’ Entrepreneurial Journey: An Inspirational Tale of Resilience
Bermudez’s story exemplifies resilience and determination. After graduating from high school, she moved to Manila, where she balanced her day job as a nanny with night-time studies. Her journey led her to Australia, where she married and started her family. After 17 years as a stay-at-home mum, Bermudez decided to pursue her passion for fashion, opening her retail shop with her mother’s support. The road was steep, but her indomitable spirit saw her through, and her resilience has helped her fashion business thrive.
Embracing Motherhood and Business: Bermudez, A Proud AusMumpreneur Finalist
Now a successful entrepreneur, Bermudez expresses great joy in being named an AusMumpreneur finalist. She takes pride in her achievements, especially her ability to balance business and motherhood. She is also a proud recipient of the Mum Entrepreneur Award from the Skylark Foundation. Bermudez strives to empower women through her business, creating beautiful outfits that inspire confidence and self-esteem. She believes that managing motherhood and business brings many benefits, including the freedom to travel and spend quality time with her family. Her advice to budding entrepreneurs is to “start small and dream big.”
